A paradise for tourists, photographers and filmmakers
This tropical island is located in the Caribbean Sea at the southeastern tip of the Dominican Republic. The place is famous for its beauty and beaches. The island, together with the adjacent mainland, is a protected nature reserve. It is located just a short distance from the mainland in the most popular tourist area of Punta Cana and is therefore a popular destination for tourists.
Boat to the island
The only way to get to the island is about an hour's boat ride from the town of Bayahibe. On the way along the coast, it is possible to enjoy the local vegetation and buildings. The road also leads around the famous blue lagoon.
On the island you will find really attractive beaches with fine sand and palm trees overhead. During the day, some beaches gradually become populated.
Swimming in the turquoise sea
Although a lot of boats go to the island every day, you can find empty beaches with flames overhead. It's exactly like the ads for an exotic Caribbean vacation.
Attractive destinations for photographers and filmmakers
Thanks to the beautiful scenery, several films and commercials have been shot here, and a lot of photographers are also heading here. The most famous work filmed here is an advertisement for a Bounty bar.
The island was inhabited by local Tainas long before the beginning of our era, Columbus colonizers renamed it during their second expedition in 1494 after the Italian city of Savona.
