Koh Samet is considered one of the most accessible islands in Bangkok. Even so, you will find more than 200 kilometers of driving and a ferry from the town of Ban Phe, so count on almost half a day of travel.

Highway to Ban Phe

Arranging a transfer to any island from Bangkok is very easy. You can go to any vendor, there are many of them in the vicinity of Khao San and you just say where and when you want to go. After telephone verification, you pay and receive a message at what time you have to wait in front of your hotel. However, the departure time is usually quite late, because you will be bound by deliveries between individual hotels and it takes a while. Then the final delivery and the 200-kilometer journey await you. You will drive all the way along the highway, often on concrete pillars, first in the direction of Pattaya and then Rayong. The final stop is in the port city of Ban Phe

Ban Phe

After a few hours drive, you are finally in Ban Phe, where the van will drop you off at the tourist office, from where you will be taken to the right ferry. In the meantime, you will have time to buy more supplies or have a snack

Departure

There are a number of tiers in Ban Phe itself and a really lively tourist and fishing activity, so you will definitely not mind if they take you directly to the boat.

Port of Koh Samet

The port on Koh Samet is famous for its giant statue. After getting off the boat, all you have to do is get on the first shared pick up taxi, which will take you to the place where you have paid for the hotel. Beware on the outskirts of the city, they are still massaging you for entering the national park – which is a bit farce, of course
