The west coast of the island of Koh Samet is rocky and practically without beaches, unlike the east, where one beach alternates with another. Even so, we have an exception to the confirmed rule and that is the beautiful beach of Ao Prao

The beginning of Ao Prao beach

As already mentioned, Ao Prao beach is the only one on the west side of the island, so it is a bit cut off from the others in the east. So most visitors come here by shared taxi. If you don't mind the heat, you can of course come here on foot. It is about 2.5 km from the capital. From the nearest beach in the east, Ao Phai only 1.5km. Don't forget that you will cross the center of the island, so you will climb a few dozen meters of altitude. Most visitors who do not live here settle right at the southern beginning of the beach. There are small photogenic rocks and especially schools of fish

View of the entire beach of Ao Prao

The beach is about half a kilometer long, so it is not a problem to walk it here and there or find a place without people

Beach background

Koh Samet is not twice a dramatic island, but directly behind this beach rises the highest peak of the island (about 120m above sea level), so this beach has a nice background

Walk along Ao Prao beach

Ao Prao beach is really very nice, so it's worth walking through it all the way to the very end

North end of Ao Prao beach

At the very northern end is not only a pleasant resort surrounded by lush vegetation, but also steps to a small temple, which also serves as a view over the palm trees to the beach
