Road through Hlavatice
The journey from Valdštejn Castle is the last stage of the crossing of the Bohemian Paradise along the Golden Trail from Jičín to Turnov. Of interest is the view from the rock Hlavatice to the valley of the Jizera and Ještěd on the horizon. Optionally, you can take a walk to the mysterious place of Calvary near Wallenstein
Calvary near Wallenstein
The road from Valdštejn Castle to the Hlavatice viewpoint leads practically along the plain, so you are there in twenty minutes. So if you don't take one small interesting walk: after about 400 meters from the castle you will come to a crossroads near Kounice. Here, the yellow tourist path turns left to the Kozlov castle and further to Svijany, which lies in the Jizera valley. However, we turn right and set out on an unfortunately descending path (we must then return the same way). Here, after about 300 meters, you will come across a mysterious sanctuary in the rocks.
The interior of the shrine
You will be the first to be interested in a small cave in which you will find a lot of holy pictures.
Calvary with three crosses
Follow the rock up to the three amsive stone crosses. From here there is also a limited view of the region, so an ideal place for breaks and snacks for example.
View of Wallenstein
From Vyhlídka there is a limited view of the valley of the river Libuňka, the hill Kozákov and the castle Valdštejn, which is a short distance as the crow flies. But it's only late for the photo shoot here.
Hlavatice Tower
After returning from Calvary to the marked tourist path, you are like a dup at the interesting rock tower Hlavatice, which is made into a lookout tower on Turnov and its surroundings.
View of Turnov from Hlavatice
Unfortunately, even here the trees have grown a bit and prevent an absolutely perfect semicircular view. Even so, it's still a good prospect. It is nice to see Turnov and Ještěd in the distance.
View of the town of Turnov
Unfortunately, the foreground of Turnov is dominated by the housing estate – but you can still see the center with its monuments such as the mighty Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and the Church of St. Nicholas. ** Hrubý Rohozec Chateau ** can also be seen in the distance.
Jizera Valley
To the west lies the fertile valley of the Jizera. The hills of the Mácha region with the dominant Bezděz and Rálsko are just on the horizon.
Wooden statues
From Hlavatice you will only descend to Turnov. Just below it is a work of art with a number of wooden sculptures
Pod Hlavaticí
The last nice view on this road is from the meadow located near the restaurant Pod Hlavaticí. Then you will find a journey through the built-up area to the Turnov-město railway station. From here you can go home or continue on a tour of Turnov.
