Chamonix is still busy, at any time of the year. Fortunately, the surrounding slopes and peaks are still able to absorb the great interest of skiers, climbers and tourists. The described route is a relaxing trip that uses local cable cars. However, the view of the Mont Blanc ridge, and not only it, is monumental. If you are in the area for a week, it pays to buy a card that will allow you unlimited use of not only cable cars, but also cog railways and buses.

Le Brévent

Directly from Chamonix, a cable car leads from a height of 1035 m above sea level to the top of Planpraz to 2000 m above sea level.

View

There is a beautiful view from the top. Below us is the lake Lac du Brévent, to which it is possible to descend to a height of 2159 m above sea level.

Panorama

The view from the top is literally panoramic. Chamonix is deep below us and you can see the path along which we will descend (and later ascend) to Flégère in a moment.

Jump into the unknown

Le Brévent has another prim, sometimes used by real daredevils for breath-taking jumps. Wingsuit flying (or wingsuiting) is a sport in which a special suit is used for sailing. This helps to keep the jumper from falling freely, but to glide in the air. After reaching a certain height or position, the parachute opens and the jumper lands on the parachute.

Flight to the unknown

The descending path takes us to Les Plaques (Ecole d´escalade), a place where another typical local activity, tandem paragliding, takes place. A few instructions, securing into a seat, a short run down the hill and after detachment from the country through the mountains.

Mont Blanc

We continue along a wide path and enjoy the views of the kingdom of snow and ice on the Mont Blanc ridge. How long will the Glacier des Bossons last?

Panorama

Not only the peak of Le Brévent, but practically the whole way offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountain giants. It is also a good inspiration to choose, so to speak, other interesting places to visit for the next few days.

The Flute to L´Index

From the wide road, the signpost leads us to a narrow path that leads to La Flégére (1894 m). From here, we first take the chairlift to L´Index at an altitude of 2396 m above sea level: summer snow and views. Then a leisurely journey down the chair and cabin to Les Praz (1062 m above sea level). From here it is to Chamonix just a jump by bus, to which you also pay that miracle card to the local cable car by rail bus.
