Burgusio is a well-known starting point for the beautiful Schlingtal valley. At the same time, you will find a beautiful castle here, which guarded the trade route Via Claudia Augusta leading through the Val Venosta valley. Outside the castle, the Benedictine monastery of Marienberg is even higher up the slope.

Burgusio from afar

When you come down from Lago di Resia, you can already see Burgusio from afar, i.e. the monumental monastery high up on the slope and the castle below.

Fürstenburg Castle in Burgusio

One of the two main monuments of Burgos is Fürstenburg Castle, built as early as the 13th century. For lovers of castles, the Val Venosta is literally perfect, because there are a really large number of them here. There is quite a large parking lot at the castle.

Marienberg Abbey

From the castle we climb the mountain road. There is a parking lot around the second bend, from where you can go to the monastery. Below the monastery are vineyards.
