The Val Venosta – Vinschgau valley is located in South Tyrol in the Adige river basin. It stretches from the Reschen Pass to Merano. It is surrounded on all sides by high mountain ranges – the Ortles, the Ötztal Alps and the Sesvenn Alps. The valley itself is very warm and there is little rain, so there is a lot of irrigation here. Although it is located in Italy, German is the mother tongue of almost all local residents. The area is excellent for hiking and cycling.
