A hike into the interior of the Sesvenna Mountains
If the walk from the mountain village of Schlinig to the Sesvenna waterfall is too short for you, you can continue to the Sesvennahütte (2,264m), located in the heart of the mountain range. A short ascent to the waterfall awaits you and then a comfortable path through the flat stream valley to the cottage.
Ascent over the Sesvenna waterfall
First of all, a rather steep climb back to the tourist route awaits us from the waterfall. The view of the waterfall and the beautiful Dolomite peak is breathtaking
View of the valley
The path takes us above the waterfall, from where you can see the entire path through the valley that we followed in the previous stage towards the waterfall.
Ortler in the distance
On the horizon rises the beautiful ice mountain – Ortler.
Mountain cottages in sight
From the top of the waterfall, it's less than a kilometer on a comfortable path to the two mountain huts – Alte Pforzheimer Hütte and Sesvennahütte
Picturesque Sesvenna
The road leads through a truly picturesque landscape, so different from neighboring mountains such as the Ortles or the Ötztal Alps
View of Piz Cristans (3,092m)
After a while, one of the highest mountains of the Sesvenna mountain range – Piz Cristans (3,092m) will peek out between the ridges of the lower peaks.
Föllakopf (2878 m)
If you want to climb some interesting peak from here – the legendary rock castle Föllakopf (2878 m) is definitely on offer.
In front of the Alte Pforzheimer Hütte
We are finally approaching the goal of this stage to two mountain huts.
View of the Sesvennahütte
However, the busier and more important of the two mountain huts is the more distant Sesvennahütte, where there is a large restaurant.
Pforzheimersee
There is also a mountain lake here. Favorite place to hang out.
A beautiful chapel
Above the cottages you will find a beautiful chapel – an ideal place for meditation
Above the lake
The view from the top is perhaps even more beautiful than directly from the lake.
From here you can go on a whole range of other side hikes
– Passo di Slinga (2309 m), where the border with Switzerland is
– Fuorcla Sesvenna (2824 m), a beautiful panoramic pass also on the border with Switzerland and the entrance to the Val di Sesvenna
