For this reason, there are usually a lot of tourists here, and even buses with tourists on day trips from Las Vegas stop here.
Name and movie
The place was named after businessman Christian Brevoort Zabriskie, who owned land in the area in the 19th century. Zabriskie Point became a popular tourist destination in the 1960s when some scenes of Michelangelo Antonioni's film Zabriskie Point were filmed there. The lookout was named after Christian Brevoort Zabriskie, director of the Pacific Coast Borax Company, which mined the mineral borax in the area in the early 20th century.
In 1970, this location became even more famous when some scenes of Michelangelo Antonioni's film Zabriskie Point were filmed here. The film depicts student protests and social unrest in the 1960s.
