Perhaps the main reason to go to the very south of the Kuwaiti agglomeration to Al-Kout is the picturesque souq here. You will find shops, cafes, but also a large fish market and a small observation tower from which you can see not only the oil industry starting outside the city but also the beautiful beaches here. The center of the souq is a huge pool with fountains.

Watch-tower

The Souq in its present form is of course not historical, but it is beautifully built in a historicizing Arabic style. On the edge stands something like a watchtower

Start of the Souk

The Souq is located just behind the coastal road 209, so it is quiet here and you don't have to worry about being run over by something here.

Entrance gate to the souq

Even the entrance gate is designed to provide pedestrians with the shade they so desire in this country.

Looking back at the Mall

There are two swimming pools in the entire complex – a small one on the edge and the main one around which there are all kinds of cafes and shops. The view on the other side is not so romantic. On the left you can see the gigantic Al Kout Mall shopping center. On the right are the original shops.

Al Kout Lake

The huge pool is called the „lake“ and it is really big. It is worth sitting here and admiring how the locals have managed to build it nicely. From time to time, the fountains are also played with pleasant music.

Sitting

The place is also popular with groups of local women, mostly veiled.

Fishing port

The souq is connected to two ports – a fishing port, which is right next to the fish market, and then a yacht port.

Yacht harbor and observation tower

Be sure not to miss the small lookout tower here. Although it may not seem like it, it allows you to see quite far.

Oil industry

Just south of the city, a gigantic industrial zone begins. This is where the local black gold is processed.

View of the city beaches

Just a short distance from the souk are several city beaches where swimming is pleasant.

Yacht harbor behind the souq

At the northern end of the souk there is a relatively large yacht harbor, so if you go to the beach you can see it all.
