  • The nearest major airport is inInnsbruck, only 55 km from the beginning of the valley Ötztal.
  • The vast majority of tourists come here, of course, either by car via the A12 Innsbruck – Landeck or from Germany to Garmisch-Partenkirchen
  • An alternative is a road from Italy over a mountain passTimmelsjoch

Travelling by plane

The nearest relatively large airport in Innsbruck is only 55 km from the beginning of the Ötztal valley. The large airport in Munich is also quite practical, especially for those who travel here from afar.

Traveling by train

Petr Liška Wrote 08.04.2013:

In the town of Oetz, right at the beginning or end of the Ötztal valley, there is a train stop (there are also express trains on the route Vienna – Innsbruck and further to Switzerland) with the possibility of changing to public bus transport. Of course, a much bigger railway hub is Innsbruck.

Travelling by bus

Petr Liška Wrote 08.04.2013:

Public transport is good in the Ötztal valley. Buses also run to Timmelsjoch Pass or the Ötztaler Gletscherstraße. Timetables HERE.
