Kargil has a small airport, but more important is land transport. There are only two major roads.
• Srinagar – Leh road: an important link of Kashmir and Ladakh also for travelers undertaking here classic circuits. In western Ladakh it passes through the pass Zoya la and further through the valley of Dras to Kargil. From here through the valley of Wakha to Mulbek , where ends the Muslim population and on across the pass Namika la to Lamayur and Leh.
• Kargil – Padum: road connecting the rest of the world with the former Kingdom of Zanskar. In western Ladakh it leads through Suru valley and on to the pass Pensi la
