Hungary's highest mountain, Kékes (1,014 meters above sea level) will not dazzle you at a glance at high altitude. Compared to the neighboring Pannonian Plain, however, it has a quite respectable elevation of 900 meters. There is a road leading to the top of the mountain, so it is quite busy. In addition to being the highest peak in Hungary, it is also the highest mountain in the Mátra Mountains, renowned for its beautiful oak forests
