The 3976m high stratovolcano is currently inactive (the last eruption was recorded in 1972). However, the volcano is adjacent to another, very active volcano – „Fuego“: [https://www.gigaplaces.com/…ulkan-fuego/], and is therefore widely visited for close observation of volcanic activity.
