Red Square (Russian Красная площадь – Krasnaya Platchaid) is the main square in Moscow, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1991. This huge space is considered the center of the city and the whole of Russia. The square separates the Kremlin (formerly the seat of princes and tsars, now the Russian president) from the old business district called Kitay-gorod. All major radial streets in the city come from this place. Red Square is one of the first places where a tourist visiting Moscow goes. Each of the buildings is a legend in its own way. One of them is Lenin's Mausoleum, which houses the embalmed body of the founder of the Soviet Union, Vladimir Lenin. Nearby is the Church of Vasily the Blessed (in front of it is a monument to Minin and Požarský, which once stood in the middle of the square) and the palace and cathedral of the Kremlin. On the east side of the square is the GUM department store and next to it is the restored Church of the Icon of the Mother of God of Kazan. In the very center of Antwerp you will find its town hall, which is within sight of the Cathedral of Our Lady on the main square, the Grote Markt. This 67 m long renaissance town hall stands on the square surrounded by guild houses from the 16th and 17th centuries with rich sculptural decoration. The giant Druon Antigon once ruled on the river Scheldt, forcing sailors coming to the port to pay him high fees. If someone refused to pay, the giant ripped off both his hands and threw them into the river. The Roman soldier Silvius Brabo matured into a giant. It was he who in turn cut off the giant's hand with his sword and threw it triumphantly into the river. This scene is also illustrated by a statue on a fountain. According to legend, it was then that the city got its name „Antwerpen“ from the Dutch connection „hand werpen“ – „tear hands“. The hero Brabo is said to have named the province of Brabant again.
