The best of nature in Uganda
Although Uganda does not have as well-known national parks as neighboring Kenya and Tanzania, that does not mean that they are not as interesting. Here you will find a varied landscape in mountain national parks with gorillas and then lots of animals in the lakes of the Great Rift Valley. There are also misty lowland forests.
Queen Elizabeth National Park
The largest concentration of hippos in Uganda
At the western end of Uganda is the extensive Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park includes two large lakes belonging to the Great Rift Valley (Lake George and Lake Edward) The lake is connected by the Kazinga Canal, a popular destination for Safari lovers. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
One of the last places for mountain gorillas
At the very southwestern tip of Uganda you will find a small but very beautiful Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The park is located on the north side of three volcanoes. The highest is Muhabura (4127m), the second is Mount Gahinga (3474m) and the third is the several peak volcano Mount Sabyinyo (3,645 m) interesting because it is a tri-border between Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. Swampy tropical forest on the border of Uganda and Congo
In the lowlands north of the mighty Ruwenzori Mountains, you will find the rest of the tropical rainforest in an otherwise heavily deforested landscape – Semuliki National Park. The Semliki River makes the natural border between Uganda and Congo here. The park also has hot springs and a range of monkey and bird species.
