The best of the Bavarian Alps
The Bavarian Alps occupy the entire south of this federal state. It belongs to the Northern Limestone Alps and consists of several other units. Although they do not reach such heights as in other Alpine countries – the highest peak is only the Zugspitze (2,962m) – but it is still definitely worth a visit. Among the most famous and most beautiful mountain ranges in Bavaria are the Wetterstein with the already mentioned Zugspitze and then, of course, the Berchtesgaden Alps with the national park of the same name and the wonderful Königsee lake.
