The Häselgehrbach waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Tyrol and at the same time one of the few visited, thanks to its somewhat hidden location. It is only a 200 meter straight walk from the small parking lot, right next to the main road. The waterfall itself has several steps and a small lake. The walk to it is therefore completely undemanding, if you do not want to miss the main attraction here, which is the climb behind the waterfall, where you have to scramble up a steep slope.

River Loisach

The start of the hike is at a small parking lot (unmarked) right next to the main road (approx. for 4–5 cars). There are still about two places beyond the bridge over the Loisach river. It is therefore easier to park when arriving from Germany.

Häselgehrbach waterfall

From the bridge, we go down the river Loisach and after about 200 meters we are at the waterfall. In the second half, we connect to the Loisach Radweg cycle path, so the largest number of visitors are cyclists. The waterfall itself has three main stages. The last one is through a small gorge. The second one is to the lake and you can climb behind the first one. The people at the top will give you a nice gauge of how high the waterfall is.

Path behind the waterfall

Be sure to climb up the steep and sometimes slippery path to experience a slightly adrenaline-filled experience – a walk behind the waterfall. You don't have to worry about slipping and falling into the waterfall – the path is secured by a steel rope.

View of the Zugspitze

From the waterfall, you also have a pretty good view of the Zugspitze – the highest mountain in Germany – through the forest
