Lake Seebensee is relatively attractive for tourists and easily accessible. The advantage is many variants of how to get to the lake and the possibility to combine a trip with a secured path with maximum difficulty level E. Along the way there are many beautiful views of the surroundings, which are dominated by the Zugspitze massif.

Wall with ferrata

It starts ideally in the village of Ehrwald, from where there are several options for the lake. We choose the path leading to the rock wall with the Seebenfall waterfall. It is a pleasant start through the woods …

Seebenklettersteig

The secured path itself leads along the wall along the Seebenfall waterfall. Already its vertical beginning is in category D.

The first views

In the middle part of the wall, the first views over the treetops open up and the difficulty decreases (BC). In the valley of the town of Ehrwald, on the right you can see a large car park at the lower station of the cable car (ideal starting point).

The upper end of the ferrata

The very end of the ferrata does not look dramatic, but it is redeemed by climbing a slight overhang of the D / E category – this is the most difficult section of the whole journey.

Massive Zugspitze

Deserved views of the dominant Zugspitze massif. Visible ridge with the top of Wetterspitzen (2747 m).

A small waterfall

It is already a traditional walking tour above the ferrata. A small cascade on the Seebenbach stream flowing out of the lake, the destination of the journey. The large waterfall starts just a few meters further downstream.

Prospects

There are wonderful views from the Seeben Alm. Again, the dominant massif of the Zugspitze.
