The most popular walk around the resort of Marmaris is a short trip along the seafront promenade to the neighboring Icmeler. Length of the walk depends on which side of Marmaris you are staying, but expect around 7 km. It is definitely better to set off in the morning, when it is not so hot. The advantage is that you can have a swim everywhere along the way, or have a snack or drink in some of the nearby restaurants. You can use dolmus on the way back then.

Beach in Marmaris

This roughly two-hour lasting walk starts at the "endless“ beach in Marmaris. Approximately every two hundred meters  there is a wooden pier leading into the sea that sometimes work as little port, sometimes as a restaurant or another place for sun loungers. Anyway, there is always a good view of the surroundings from it.

The hills between Marmaris and Icmeler

Both bays are separated by more than 300 meters high hills, but their foot is unfortunately surrounded by the non-stop buildings, so the path does not lead through any wilderness.

Beautiful traditional house

On one side of the promenade there is the sea and beach, on the other side many uninteresting hotels. But this concrete jungle is unexpectedly disrupted by this beautiful house with a garden. As if it did not belong here at all or has belonged here always, just the buildings have been built all around it over the years.

Pine grove

After leaving the wide bay of Marmaris the journey continues through pleasantly shaded pine trees.

Hotels in pine forests

From Marmaris it seems that there is a nice piece of wood and place without civilization at the foot of the hills, but it is only an illusion. Built-up is everything. But it is true that hotels on the roughly 2.5 kilometers are lying in the woods and look quite nice.

Mountains above Icmeler

The first small hotels in Icmeler gradually begin to appear on the horizon and the impressive massif above the town is approaching.

View of Icmeler

Behind the cape there is already opened view into a wide cove of Icmeler. There is almost empty beach (considering the local standards) at the unfinished hotel – ideal for a swim before the final part of the walk.

Romantic views

There is a nice view of a small islet from the beach.
