A small harbor on the island of Hvar
The town of Sucuraj is located at the very end of the island of Hvar. A ferry from Drvenik runs here several times a day. There is no central beach in Sucuraj, but the coast is rocky and access to the water is very good. It was said that there was a sandy beach near Sućuraj.
Ferry ride
The town of Sucuraj can be reached by ferry from Drvenik. During the ferry ride no town is visible, the only sign of civilization is the lighthouse.
Arrival
Only after we went around the cape with the lighthouse, the city appeared. Sucuraj is a small port and our ferry has a monstrous impression with its size.
Church of St. Jurja
We visit the local church and notice the diversity of local trees and plants. Palm trees, tangerines, pomegranates and rosemary are very common.
In the alleys
If you dare to leave the port and embark on a tangle of local streets, then you will find out how picturesque the town is. The streets here are narrow, deserted. Sometimes you come across one of the locals, life seems to stop here.
Void
Even here, however, we meet a number of empty and dilapidated houses, on which nature has already begun to work.
Lighthouse
From the town you can walk to the lighthouse. The lighthouse serves its original purpose, but at the same time a hotel has been set up here. As we found out, the hotel is probably popular among Czech tourists.
Beaches
Sucuraj has the advantage that if you reach the coast (which is a bit), you can swim anywhere. The coast is rocky, but mostly with a slight entry into the water. We even came across a rocky beach without hedgehogs. The water here is clear, ideal for snorkeling.
We're going back
After a day spent in this town, great ice cream and great swimming, we go back to Drvenik. It nailed ships in the port, as Sucuraj is one of the stops of the local cruises.
