Almost in the middle of Cyprus is the green heart of the island – the largest and highest mountain range Troodos .. Due to its remoteness and more difficult access, nature and local villages have remained intact. Part of the mountains with an area of 93 km2 has been declared a nature reserve

The reserve is also the highest mountain Olympus, which is at the same time with a height of 1,952 m above sea level the highest mountain on the island. Thanks to the considerable altitude, it is also possible to ski here in winter

Monasteries and churches listed by UNESCO

In the Byzantine period, Troodos became the center of monasteries and thus the center of education and art. There are a total of 10 mountain churches and monasteries built between the 11th and 15th centuries, which have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1985 for their extraordinary architecture and especially the unique colorful frescoes.

Narrow roads

Mountain roads are sometimes in a worse condition, sometimes they require strong nerves and do not allow too much speed.
