A legendary place in the national park
In the northwest of the island of Cyprus, on the Akamass Peninsula, inside a nature reserve about 10 km northwest of the city of Polis, there is a tourist attraction called „Aphrodite's Bath“. It is a small cave with a small waterfall and a natural pool.
Greek myths
Legend has it that this is where Aphrodite met her lover Adonis. At Artemis' command, Adonis was killed by a wild boar. Aphrodite then became so sad that the whole nature around him began to fade and the streams dried up. God Zeus therefore began to return Adonis to the land of Aphrodite for eight months and to the underworld for four months. Adonis thus became a symbol of wilting and rebirth of nature.
Legend
According to legend, you can prolong your youth and preserve your beauty by swimming in these waters. In fact, the place is quite dark and neglected and definitely does not encourage bathing.
Botanic Garden
The cave is a bit dark and gloomy. If you want to drive away the clouds, it is advisable to visit the adjacent botanical garden or go to the national park ..
