Famous resort in Rio Grande do Sul

Torres is a famous and popular resort in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. In addition to several long sandy beaches, you will also find interesting rocks and coastal dunes belonging to two state parks: Parque Estadual José Lutzenberger (Guarita) and Parque Estadual de Itapeva. An ideal place for a travel break, swimming and walking along the coast
Lagoa do Violão
The center of Torres is the large lagoon Lagoa do Violão. If you want to get around it all, count on more than two kilometers of walking. Relatively pleasant walk

Development in Torres
As almost everywhere else in Brazil, the old low-rise buildings are disappearing and replaced by a tangle of ugly high-rise buildings.

View from the hill Morro to Farol
From the lagoon to the east you can climb the hill Morro do Farol. From the viewpoint you can get an overview of the local beaches and rocky peninsulas Torres „towers“ after which the city was named

Northern beaches in Torres
The northern beaches stretch for three kilometers, but I didn't find them as interesting as the southern ones

South beaches
To the south, not only the beaches but also part of the seascape are protected within the state park

Pilots on the wings
The park is an ideal place for watching pilots on the wings

Beach life in Brazil
Brazilians love not only football and samba but also beach life. They often come to more remote beaches by car to the sand, pull out their musical equipment, start grilling, drinking beer and enjoying life in the waves

Tower of Meio
From the beach, the path leads to the state park to the local rock cliffs with lots of views. This is a view back – in the background the lighthouse hill – Morro do Farol

Sightseeing tour
The path leads almost always along the edge of the cliff, so the views are great

View of Torre Sul
The best view is to the end of the most interesting local rock formation Torre Sul. In the background you can see the sand dunes of another state park and in the distance the beautiful Serra Geral mountains
