To the highest peak of the German Ore Mountains
Fichtelberg (1,215 m above sea level) is the highest mountain in the German part of the Ore Mountains. At one time it was even the highest peak in all of East Germany. Today it is a very easily accessible hill thanks to the road leading to the very top. In addition, a cable car leads here from the highest German spa town of Kurort Oberwiesenthal. The long-distance hiking trail Zschopautal-Wanderweg also starts here
Hotel Fichtelberghaus
The easiest way to get to the top of Fichtelberg is by car. It is 5 km from Boží Dar and 6 km from Oberwiesental. The dominant feature of this flat peak is the huge chalet Hotel Fichtelberghaus. Unlike our Klínovec, it does not look desolate at all.
View of Saxony
From Fichtelberg there is a pretty view of the Saxon foothills of the Ore Mountains
Czech - Saxon border
To the east is the border between Saxony and Bohemia. Long wooded ridges typical of the Ore Mountains are beautifully visible.
Panorama with Klinovec
Directly opposite, across the valley, stands the highest mountain in the entire Ore Mountains – Klínovec (1,244 m above sea level). Even further in the haze is the valley of the river Ohře
Peace bell
The top of this mountain is quite large and you will find a nice bell
