Or how we found the biggest waves in Gran Canaria
Puerto de las Nieves is a small port near the town of Agaete. It is a small resort, which, in contrast to the south side of the island, is still waiting to be discovered.
On the other side of the island
Getting from Amadores to Puerto de las Nieves means crossing the island literally from one side to the other and beyond. This can be done quite quickly if you use the local highway, which ends near the town of Agaete.
Promenade
The town is suitable for tourists, but there are not as many here as you would expect, probably because it is a very windy side of the island.
Natural swimming pool
The town boasts a natural attraction called Piscinas naturales Las Salinas. These are natural pools, formerly used to extract salt. Today it is possible to take a bath in the pools. The water here is completely calm compared to the stormy sea.
Impressive coast
Even though the official view of the local cliffs was closed, the view of them was still great. The western side of the island boasts the greatest wind, but also the most beautiful coastline.
Dock
Puerto de las Nieves is primarily a port, as its name suggests. From here you can take a ferry to the opposite island of Tenerife.
Picturesque town
In addition to the port, it is also a picturesque fishing town, which is definitely worth a visit.
