Former important Moravian town
Between Jihlava and Havlíčkův Brod you will find the small picturesque town of Polná. It used to be one of the most important Moravian towns, but due to several fires its importance declined. Today you will find several interesting sights here, including a castle and a monumental church. Polná is definitely worth a stop.
Column with a sculptural group of the Holy Trinity
We start our tour of Polná on Hus Square with a beautiful Baroque sculptural group. You can park comfortably here.
Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Polná
We are slowly moving to the most impressive building in Polná – the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The local tower is 64 meters high. The church can be seen basically from everywhere
Under the church
Under the church you will find a nice fountain. Even baroque interiors are worth it. If you don't mind dozens of stairs and the weather is good for the views, be sure to climb the lookout tower and look around the surrounding highlands
View from the church
From the church there is a nice view of the picturesque houses around the church of St. Anny
Hus Library and the Church of St. Anny
Another nice corner of the city is at Hus's library, where there are several nice houses next to each other.
Polná Power Plant
We descend to the Ochozský brook, which divides the city into southern and northern parts. Here is an interesting power plant building in Polná
Former manorial brewery
We're almost at the castle. Here is the largest parking lot in the city and the possibility of refreshments in the former manorial brewery
Polná Chateau
The biggest attraction for tourists, however, is the local castle Polná. There is also a museum and a few predators in cages. From the castle there are nice views of the city center
