Bruges, a picturesque town perfect for romantic walks through the narrow streets over the bridges of the river canals that intersect the city, is about an hour's train ride west of the Belgian capital, Brussels.

Castle Kasteel de la Faille

On the way from the train station towards the city center you can not miss the picturesque castle Kasteel de la Faille, which has been located on the shores of Lake Minnewater since 1893. A pleasant walk along the promenade leading around this castle to the gates and entrance to the historic city center.

Lake of love

Lake Minnewater, on the shores of which lies a castle, is also called the lake of lovers. For most of the year, you will find several dozen swans or tourists on boats, which can get along the canal to the city center.

Dvůr Bekyní

The historic center of Brugg has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000, but so-called Flemish „béguinages“ were added there two years earlier. One of the preserved courtyards of the Bekyns can also be found here and it is a white-plastered house from the 17th to the 18th century, which currently belongs to the Benedictine convent. The space inside the courtyard, which is surrounded by Benedictine houses, is filled with a small lawn with planted trees and daffodils bloom in spring.
