The beginning of a several-day trek to the highest peak in Africa – Uhuru (5,895 m above sea level), located in the Kilimanjaro mountain range, is located just a few kilometers north of the town of Marang. This is the most classic way to the top after him. All formalities are handled in the national park building. Count on it being very busy. The parking lot is located exactly at the border of the agricultural landscape and the mountain forest. Dozens of tourists and even more escorts leave from here every day. You can read on the information boards what dimensions await you at the exit.

Unfortunately, since you can't go to Kilimanjaro individually, the trek also has a lot of support staff. If, for example, you are a group of 4 tourists, about ten other people will go with you – guid, helper guida, chefs, porters … just an expedition to Everest.

Views of the surrounding countryside are definitely not waiting for you on this first stage. Instead, you can enjoy the beautiful mountain forest, which is preserved thanks to the national park. The trees are hung with vines, moss and lichens

Apart from interesting twisted trees, you will definitely see a number of flowering plants here.

At this stage you will pass a small waterfall. Perhaps more interesting than himself is his green surroundings

After staying in the Mandara hut cabins, you can go on a short trip to Maundi Crater. It lies above the mountain forest and has a pretty nice view of the overgrown slopes of Kilimanjaro. Then gather strength for the more difficult stages that await you.
