„Swimming“ in the Dead Sea is an experience that should be experienced by every traveler at least once in his live. However, it is not much about swimming, but you can read here newspapers in the water, which you cannot experience elsewhere. There are not many access places to the sea on the Jordanian side, so you will probably need to use the services of one of the expensive resorts located at the northern end of this deepest depression on the continental land. As a bonus, you can daub mud on you, which has a healing effect on your skin.

Path to the beach

Around the shores of the Dead Sea is visible how the water gradually decrease. In places where used to be a beach, are now cliffs, and where used to be a gradual entry, the water is really run away leaving a salty sludge behind. Because of that the hotels had to invest a lot of money to rework the beaches and had to bring a lot of sand from deserts, which is also one of the reasons why a stay at the Dead Sea is relatively expensive.

Desert mountains

The Dead Sea is almost in its entire circumference surrounded by arid mountains. Due to its north-south position you can admire the play of lights in the morning on Israeli side and in the afternoon on Jordanian side of the sea. It is also possible to daub mud here, which is together with extremely salty air helpful to the skin and respiratory tract.

Dead Sea coast

If you set out from the beach for a small „exploration“ to the neighboring hotel, you will find out that without the work of excavators, bulldozers and tons of sand from the desert it would be impossible to swim here. The coast is full of salt sediments, stones and mud.

Construction site on the coast

As elsewhere in the world, there is constantly increasing number of new seaside hotels. This one seems not to have an easy access to water.

Hotel beaches

Hotel beaches are quite nice thanks to tons of yellow sand taken there. Just the greenery is kind of missing here.

Relax in the Dead Sea

You will not definitely see here typical swimmers. It is ideal to lie here on your back and relax.

Early evening atmosphere

In the evening it is worth to be out on the terrace and watch the games of light and clouds over the desert mountains on the other side of the sea in Israel.
