Trip from Podtrosecký údolí to Hrubá Skál
Rokytnický rybník is one of the possible exits to the Podtrosecký údolí and Hruboskalské (there are a few places to park). From there we will go on foot (it is also possible by bike) along a narrow road through the settlement of Rokytnice to Hrubá Skály. It is about 3.5 kilometers of comfortable walking from the pond to the castle.
Rokytnický pond
The starting point of this walk is Rokytnický rybník, just a short distance from the village of Borek, or the main road Turnov – Jičín.
Trosky – a symbol of the Bohemian Paradise – can be seen from the pond. A little further on the embankment there is also a bird observatory
Region near Rokytnice
Following a narrow road, we head to the settlement of Rokytnice. The surroundings are picturesque and the road traffic is very low. It goes through the valley of the Lubuňka River with a view of Kozákov, the highest peak of the Bohemian Paradise.
View of the Ruins
Be sure to turn around on the way, because there is a nice view of Trosky behind you
The butcher's villa in Hrubá Skála
We arrive in the village of Hrubá Skála. Most visitors just pass through here, but there are several attractions that are worth seeing.
One of them is Řezníček's villa surrounded by a nice garden. This Neo-Renaissance villa of the former owner of the brewery today houses the municipal office.
The garden around the villa
Around the villa is a beautiful, freely accessible garden
The former brewery Hrubá Skála
A little further away is the former brewery Hrubá Skála, next to which there are two ponds.
Cottages on Hrubá Skála
From the statue of St. Jan Nepomucký we will continue for about 50 meters along the road, which we will leave at a bend and around the last cottages we will first follow the road and then follow the footpath up to the castle
Entrance to Hrubá Skála castle
We climb back to the road along the footpath and after a while we are already at the parking lot and refreshments at the castle. Now we have many options to continue further.
