Amazing Valle Encantado
The long drive from Bariloche to Buenos Aires is very interesting at the beginning, when you go through the valley of the river Limay, the so-called Valle Encantado. Above the beautiful blue river rise strange rock formations and the surrounding arid landscape nicely contrasts.
Enchanted Valley
The road from Bariloche to Nequén or Buenos Aires leads through the deserted but beautiful landscape of the Limay River. The most famous local place is El Anfiteatro del Rio Limay, where a cabbage oasis is surrounded by arid landscape.
Del Dedo de Dios
Another beautiful place on this road are the rock formations of Del Dedo de Dios – the finger of God, standing high above the river.
The ideal of Argentine recreation
It is quite difficult for backpackers to take some trips in this valley. It is ideal to have a rented car or hope to stop. The locals also like it here. As soon as possible, the car is parked by the water, grilling, fishing and generally relaxing
Rock formations above the river
Beyond the road junction, the river widens quite a bit, but there are still beautiful rock formations
Limay river as a dam
Gradually you feel as if you are driving along a dam rather than along a river – and you are right you are at the end of the Embalse Alicurá dam
Remnants of forests
The remnants of the woods around the river look literally magical
An island on a dam
The scenery here is truly breathtaking
Alkaline packaging
The beautiful section of the road is slowly coming to an end and in front of you there is still 1500 kilometers of wasteland to Buenos Aires :-)
