Hike from Chile Chico

At the western end of the town of Chile Chico, stairs lead to a rock with a view of El Mirador. Here our hike along the lake begins.

From the lookout you can see the footpaths leading along the rocky shore of the lake. However, count on this hike with the fact that rock climbing is also waiting for you / especially further from the city /

Practically on the whole of this tour you will have views of glaciated islands.

The journey itself can be a destination on this trip. But be careful, especially if you go alone. You don't have to meet anyone all day on this tour and the terrain is sometimes „wild“.

The first „picnic“ place on this tour is a very picturesque beach. If you are at least a little hardy, you can also try to take a bath, but the water is very cold even in summer.

You will appreciate the great beauty of this beach and its surroundings mainly from the viewpoint on the north side. Where do you dig the beaches of tropical paradises, what do you say?

A good tip seems to be to arrange with a local and explore the islands on a boat. It would definitely be a great trip.

After a while, you will climb the rocks and the path is not so clear. However, it is definitely worth the effort.

From the path on the rocks, a view of the second destination of this hike finally opens up – a magical bay lined with mountains. The island with a lighthouse, which is surrounded by ferries from Chile Chico to Puerto Ibanez, is also nice to see

If you want to travel further north from Chile Chico, then you have only two options: either take the road number 265, which is beautiful but terribly long and does not drive much. Or shorten it by ferry and sail across the lake to Puerta Ibanez around this picturesque lighthouse.

The path from the vantage point descends practically to the surface of the lake and then leads under a high rock wall to the second beautiful bay.

From the second bay you can return to Chile Chico the same way back. The second alternative is to try to climb between the mountains to the „other side“ where a jeep road leads to the hill with antennas, from where there is another interesting view. However, you must have experience and a good sense of direction for this alternative, because it will go through the wilderness between rocks and bushes.

On the alternative return route, you have a view of the islands from an even greater height.
