A classic trip from Bariloche
Cerro Catedral (2,150 m above sea level) is a mountain massif located less than 20 kilometers from Bariloche. The mountain is dotted with cable cars and lifts as it is the largest ski resort in South America. In summer, you will hardly meet any animals here and you can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountain landscape.
Views of Lake Gutierrez
The ascent to Cerro Catedral starts at the Ville Catedral ski resort, where you can take a bus marked „Catedral“ directly from Bariloche. If you want to extend the tour, take bus number 50 instead, which will take you to the village of Los Cohiues on Lake Gutierrez.
The first view of Lake Nahuel Huapi
From Lake Gutierrez it is almost six kilometers across a mountain ridge to Villa Catedral. From here, there are many paths up, the steepest and most direct leads under the cable car. Slowly, beautiful views of the lake on the horizon open up
Massive Cerro Cathedral
Cerro Catedral is basically a ridge with several peaks. The mountain itself is not so interesting, but the views from it are worth it.

If you have more time and the weather wishes you can make a longer crossing of the ridge and cross several two thousand peaks
Views of Cerro Bella Vista
At the ascent there is also a nice view across the valley to the slightly lower peak of Cerro Bella Vista (1,800 m above sea level), which, as its name suggests, also offers a great view.
