A jewel of Moravia with architectural charm and healing springs

About 15 km southeast of Zlín lies the picturesque spa town of Luhačovice, which has been an oasis of peace and health for centuries. In addition to the local healing mineral springs that help with various health problems, it also boasts unique architecture that gives it an unmistakable charm.
The unique character of Luhačovice is completed by the unique architecture of the Slovak architect Dušan Jurkovič. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, he gave the spa a distinctive appearance inspired by folk art nouveau and Wallachian traditions.
Jurkovič's House
In the center of the spa colonnade is one of the most important works of architect Dušan Jurkovič – Jurkovič House. This unique building, built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, enchants visitors with its distinctive beauty inspired by folk art nouveau and still serves as an elegant hotel with a rich range of services.

Vincentka Hall
The center of the spa is a large colonnade, an elegant Art Nouveau building from the early 20th century. The colonnade is dominated by the Vincentka Hall, where the most famous local medicinal spring springs – Vincentka, a highly mineralized iodobromine acid water that is used for drinking treatments and inhalations.

Spa Park
The center of the spa is the Spa Park, located on both banks of the Luhačovice stream. A walk through the spa park with fountains and flower beds, sitting in one of the cafes with a view of Jurkovič's buildings or relaxing by the healing springs – all of these are unforgettable experiences.

Spa house Jestřabí
On the northern edge of the spa centre is an Art Nouveau building built in 1902–03 according to the design of architect D. Jurkovič. Originally a spa guesthouse, it was transformed into the three-star Garni Hotel Jestřabí after a comprehensive renovation in 2000. The exterior corresponds to the original architectural design of Dušan Jurkovič, and the interior is similar in style.

Community house
In the very center of the spa, directly opposite the spa colonnade, stands the Community House. This building was built in 1935. The house has been renovated and now serves as a congress hall or hotel.

Healing springs
The basis of spa treatment in Luhačovice are mineral springs with different chemical composition and temperature. They are used for drinking treatments and inhalations.

Inhalatorium
In the southern part of the Luhačovice spa centre is the Inhalatorium spa house. The building was built in 1922–23 on the site of an older building, which also served as the inhalatorium of the hot Vincentka spa. In 1987, the outlet of the Jana spring was brought into the building. In 2000–01, the building underwent a complete reconstruction. Today, it treats respiratory diseases, musculoskeletal diseases, oncological diseases and diabetes.

Bedřich Smetana's House
Opposite the Spa Colonnade, in the quiet spa center, stands an impressive Art Nouveau building built in 1908–10 – the House of B. Smetana. The building serves as a comfortable spa hotel for both treatment and vacation.

Hydrotherapy Institute
In the northeastern part of the city center is the Hydrotherapy Institute, which was created by rebuilding an older house – the Jestřabský mill from 1710. The reconstruction in 1901–1902 created a comprehensive complex of spa buildings under the Jurkovič family. In 2021, reconstruction began with the aim of saving the building and transforming it into a museum of the composer Leoš Janáček, who often stayed in the spa town.

Sunbathing
Directly below the Hydrotherapy Institute is the Sun Spa swimming pool with a pool that was originally filled from a flowing river. The complex was built in 1903 and consisted of an entrance building and open wooden cabins with white canvas curtains, located on the sides of the pool.

Bandstand
To the north of the spa park stands a small romantic wooden building from 1903, which is the center of cultural events in the spa. During the season, concerts and other cultural events are held here.

Spa Theater
The spa theatre building was built in 1907 and the theatre enjoyed its greatest fame during the First Republic. However, the theatre is still in operation today.

Spa chapel
The spa chapel of St. Elizabeth of Hungary from 1795 is one of the oldest buildings in Luhačovice. According to the spa administration's regulation from 1816, the bell was rung here at 6, 12 and 6 pm during the season, indicating the start and end times of bathing in the spa.

Villa Chalet
This building on the slope above the Spa Chapel was designed by architect Jurkovič by rebuilding the former kitchen building from 1851. Jurkovič approached Carpathian folk architecture with the reconstruction in 1902. Originally a spa guesthouse with the spa manager's apartment, it serves as a spa villa after a comprehensive renovation in 1995 – 1997.

Hotel Palace
At the roundabout in the city center is the largest spa hotel in Luhačovice – the Palace Hotel, which provides comprehensive spa services.

Government Villa
Adjacent to the northern edge of the Spa Park is a villa from 1906 decorated with a turret and arcaded loggias. The building impresses at first glance with its unique frescoes by the painter Ládi Novák. In the past, the villa hosted many important figures of social, cultural and political life. Currently, the building serves as a hotel.
