A perfect hike over the Jizera valley will take you through the lesser-known rock town of Drábovna. Moreover, at the beginning and at the end there are very nice monuments in the form of the Hrubý Rohozec chateau with an extensive park and at the end the cheap rock castle Frýdštejn.

Hrubý Rohozec Chateau

You can go on this hike from Turnov, or leave your car in the parking lot at the Hrubý Rohozec chateau and go from there. The castle itself is worth a visit and has a nice large park.

Trail under the Hrubý Rohozec chateau

From the castle you descend a longer staircase to the bottom of the valley. The road then continues directly under the castle. On one side you have a rock wall and on the other a high railway embankment.

Lock directly overhead

At this point, you probably wouldn't like someone to throw something out of the lock window. On this side, he was definitely impregnable.

Rohozecké ponds

After a few minutes walk from the castle you will walk to the place where the place of the railway embankment is a viaduct. There is also a bench, a spring of water, a fireplace. Theoretically a nice emergency place for a bivouac. You will walk under the tracks and picturesque ponds are waiting for you, supplied with water from the rocks (not from the Jizera)

Jizera

The road continues to Dolánky through the Jizera valley, but you will approach it just before Dolánky.

Dlask's farm

There is a tourist crossroads in Dolánky. If you did not start this tour in Hrubý Rohozec, but in Turnov, you will join here. Not far from Dolánky is the famous Dlaskův farm in the Pojizerská style. There is also a large parking lot, so an alternative start of this tour and at the same time another possibility of a tour.

Observation balcony to the Turnov region

The biggest ascent on this tour awaits you from Dlask's farm. After passing through the settlement of Bukovina, a march along a dirt road awaits you with beautiful distant views of the entire Turnov region. The only blemish on the beauty is the power lines, which are often turned into engagement.

Picturesque region near Borek

From the observation balcony you can also see the Hruboskalsko region, including the castle Valdštejn or Příhrazské skály. At the statue of St. Wenceslas under the mighty April road turns into the forest. Beech forest above Jizerou is protected here within the nature reserve Na hranicích. It is nice to see Jizera deep below you with occasional cuts, but it's not much for a photo shoot. Then you will cross the main busy road 10 and you will get to the picturesque landscape of meadows near the village Borek.

Water lines

After walking through the rock town of Drábovna, you will reach the picturesque cottage village of Voděrady. Through the cottages you can see far to Bezděz.

In Voděrady, the blue-marked hiking trail leading to Turnov / Dolánek also joins (a less interesting alternative to our route). From here, the road climbs to a nice view not only of Ještěd, but also back. Then you will descend to Frýdštejn.
