Trek Xinaliq – North Laza II .: The second part of the two-day trek from Xinaliq to North Laza you will just descend through a long valley. The path is much less clear here, especially in early spring, when it is partially covered with snow. However, the views of the highest peaks in Azerbaijan are worth it.

The valley below the pass

This stage of the trek begins in the meadows overlooking the highest mountains of Azerbaijan. A beautiful place where it pays to stay and enjoy for some time.

Retrospect

Around you is a desolate grassy region with scattered boulders fallen from the surrounding mountains.

Road through the valley

The footpath sometimes leads along the river, sometimes ascending to the grassy slopes. It needs to be monitored carefully, because sometimes it gets quite lost. But the downward direction is absolutely clear

Descent through a wide valley

The road through the valley is long, but there is still something to look at. The surrounding mountains are such Azerbaijani Dolomites.

Traverse of a snow field

The descent itself is technically completely undemanding, there are only a few snow fields to the traverse, which you will not meet at the beginning of the summer.

Dramatic Shahdagh

The 4,000-strong Shahdagh looks quite dramatic from some points of view

Mountain gate

Finally you are on the edge of the „mountain gate“ on both sides of the valley are vertical rock walls and the terrain in front of you already falls freely into the foothills

Laza in sight

You can already see northern Laza on the horizon, so the question is whether you will want to catch up and look for an overnight stay or, like us, you will build a wall on some nice place and you will arrive in civilization until tomorrow morning.
