A unique and magnificent city whose history dates back to the 17th century, has been inscribed on the UNESCO list. The city is defined by the fairytale atmosphere of narrow streets, small clay houses, walls by the river, but also the view over the city. In this article, we will go across the city and show what it actually looks like here.

City in sight

The best way to get to the city is from the nearby town of Ouarzazate. During the low season, it can be a bigger problem to get here by public transport, because there are not so many tourists and it is necessary to get to the place by a privately rented taxi. It is recommended to stay on site so that you have enough time to explore all parts of this beautiful place.

The river below the town of Ait Ben Haddou

A more modern village and old town are separated by a river. Most tourists jump over the rocks that the locals keep here. It is necessary to reckon that the locals will want money for you to be able to cross the rocks.

Alleys with shops

One of the streets of Ait Ben Haddou, where beautiful and handmade carpets hang. In the old town there are several shops with interesting souvenirs. But, as everywhere in Morocco, we need to bargain and not be fooled. Here, prices are many times higher than in ordinary places in Morocco.
