There is a long-distance route in the Dolomites, which is about 500 km long and is divided into about 30 stages. We had the honor to join such a route and walk part of it. It was stage No. 16 Misurina – Auronzo whose highest point on this route is the cottage Rifugio Città di Carpi 2110 m above sea level. In 2020, the cottage will be 50 years old and was built in honor of Captain Manfred Tarabini Castellani. The cottage is located for me in one of the most beautiful panoramic views in the eastern Dolomites.

Long-distance routes in the Dolomites

There is a long-distance route in the Dolomites, which is about 500 km long and is divided into about 30 stages. We had the honor to join such a route and walk part of it. It was stage No. 16 Misurina – Auronzo whose highest point on this route is the cottage Rifugio Città di Carpi 2110 m above sea level. In 2020, the cottage will be 50 years old and was built in honor of Captain Manfred Tarabini Castellani. The cottage is located for me in one of the most beautiful panoramic views in the eastern Dolomites. We originally planned to get to the cottage Rifugio Fonda Savio, but after less than 2 km to it, the descent is equal to Via Ferrata. And we weren't the only ones around here. After descending, we were alerted by a poster on the Rifugio Città di Carpi. We look at the map and it's about an hour away. So we didn't think for too long and came here. It is to this cottage that the Cammino della Dolomiti leads from Misurini. Which is something like the Tatra Walkway, Macha's Way or St. Jacob's Way. A long-distance road that passes through the Dolomites. These 500 km are divided into 30 stages and we go to stage 16. For families or seniors, it is possible to be taken 300 meters to the Col de Varda and go this stage the whole or like us to the cottage and back. The journey is not challenging and offers really beautiful views. The most beautiful ones will really appear at the Rifugio Città di Carpi. From here there is a wonderful 360 ° C view. It is possible to go to the top of Monte Campoduro from where the views will be no less beautiful. It is possible to stay in the cottage, as well as eat and refresh. Here on this route, the advantage is that it lives in the shadow of the most visited places and at the same time offers something so beautiful. For long-distance travelers, Cammino della Dolomiti is another destination that they will not want to miss.

Panoramic view from Col de Varda

The view is really monumental. Marmolada is a bit visible. Otherwise Monte Cristallo, Monte Piano and Misurina

To the left in the shadow continues along the glass down. As you can see, there is no decent road here. But it offers a view of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo

Rifugio Città di Carpi

Beautiful environment like from fairy tales. Here are some of the most beautiful views I've ever experienced. This will allow you to finish the trip to Auronzo or go through the pass to the cottage Rifugio Fonda Savio, which we did not reach in the original plan.
