Ascent to Little Adam's Peak
View to Ella Gap
The lighter of the two classic tours that you can go from the mountain town of Ella (1,015 m above sea level) is Malý Adamův vrchek (1,141 m above sea level).
Tea plantations near Ella
From the center of Ella, head east on the road to Balleketuwa. After about 1.1 km, the main road turns sharply to the left. You seem to continue straight on a nice trail. A little further on, tea plantations are already starting (GPS coordinates are at the turnoff from the main road)
Tamil tea pickers
When you climb, you will most likely meet tea pickers. They like to take photos, because their work is very low and a few small things from the tourist for the photo will come in handy. Usually around 10 Rupees are enough for them.
View of Little Adam's Peak
After about 600 meters of walking you will come to another crossroads, but turning right is very clear when the destination is in sight :-)
Exit path
The ascent path itself is very comfortable and the surroundings are very picturesque.
The beginning of real output
It is only at the very top that the path begins to climb more. The surrounding slopes are completely overgrown with tea, just here and there from the plantation is a tree.
Beautiful views of the fields
The road climbs zigzag along the east side of the mountain. From here, beautiful views open down to the valley, where there are picturesque terraced fields.
At the top of Little Adam
After about an hour (depending on how you enjoy and take pictures) you are at the top of Little Adam. The houses in Elle can be seen on the horizon.
The peak of Little Adam's Peak
The actual peak is grassy with a typical tree. The slopes fall on both sides a few hundred meters below.
Views of Ella Rock and Ella Gap
The most beautiful view is, of course, across the valley to the mighty Ella Rock and the Ella Gap gorge deep below you. From here you can see the top of the Rawana waterfall, where you can also go for a walk from Ella (or take a bus)
Hřebenovka po Adam´s Peak
If you feel like going down the ridge at least a little further. There is a slightly better view from the other peaks than from the main peak. But take a good look under your feet so that you don't step on a snake that could ruin your trip.
Views of Little Adam's Peak and Ella Rock
If you enjoy the local tea plantations, don't go back the same, shortest way, but „wander around“ a bit. If you go north, you will soon have a beautiful view of the hill where you were a while ago. You can walk to the tea factory, but do not tour here. But you can see an absolutely epic inscription on the gate „Thank you for no visiting“
Tea seller
Of course, end this nice trip in a tea buffet.
