A walk through the historic city with a monumental fortress
Although Klodzko is a district town with almost thirty thousand inhabitants, the historic core is relatively small, so you will pass the town in a relatively short time. But if you want to walk through the monumental fortress above the city in detail, count on significantly more time for a tour.
The beginning of the tour Klodzka
The ideal place to start the tour is in a relatively large parking lot next to the historic city center. Parking is surprisingly free. Address: Zofii Stryjeńskiej 9. After a few meters walk you can see the famous bridge of St. Jana
On the bridge of St. Jana
The bridge crosses the artificial arm of the Kladská Nisa – Mlynowka. There are nice statues on the bridge and interesting houses opposite. Unfortunately, socialist barracks are stuck next to it.
View of the other side of the bridge
Looking back, you can see the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary in Kłodzko
Klodzko City Hall
The city center is surrounded by an impressive Neo-Renaissance town hall, typically built in the middle of the square. Next to it is the Marian Column.
Under the fortress
From the northwest corner of the square, you ascend directly below the fortress. Here you can go either to the right on the way along the fortress with several views (for free) or to the left, where after a while the entrance to both the underground and the top of the fortress is paid for a while.
Klodzko Fortress
Most of the time from all over Klodzko can be spent in the fortress and its surroundings, as it is really very extensive here.
View of Klodzko from the fortress
From the fortress is quite a nice view of the city. It is a pity that the new houses were built so high and limit the view of the historic center
Walk along the fortress
Along the fortress there is a walking path with nice views of the region. If you would like to bypass the entire fortress, count on almost three kilometers.
Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Klodzko
From the fortress we descend back to the center to the most important church in the city – the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
Back at the bridge of St. Jana
From the church we get to the bridge of St. Jana on the other hand and the circuit is slowly closing.
