Mount Tongariro (1,967 m above sea level) looks a bit like Cinderella thanks to its „shot“ peak and the beautiful and taller neighbor Ngauruhoe. On the other hand, there are nice views from it and that is where the biggest attractions of the park are in its vicinity, such as Emerald Lakes, Red Crater and Blue Lake. A simple side trip from Tongariro Alpine Crossing leads to its own peak (1.5 km one way)
