Srokkur Geyser (Máselnice) spouts a 30m high stream every few minutes. Just before the explosion, the surface of Strokkur Lake turns into a dome for a fraction of a second, which is ruptured in an instant by an exploding water column. After decades of inactivity, the earthquake in 2008 set in motion the neighboring more well-known Geyser, but the eruptions are very irregular (Geyser spews a column of water to a height of 70 m).
