At the southern tip of Bolotny Island stands the most controversial of all Moscow sculptures by architect Zubar Cereteli. It is a megalomaniac memorial to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Navy, which consists of a giant statue of Peter the Great, standing behind the helm of a sailboat of the same size. The controversial statue has many supporters as well as opponents from the professional public and ordinary residents of Moscow.
