Former summer residence of the tsars
Already in the 14th century, Kolomenskoye became the first place where an out-of-town summer residence was built for the Grand Dukes and Tsars. In the Soviet era, it became a showcase of wooden architecture and stone monuments from all over Russia. Today, visitors can breathe the atmosphere of almost every period of Russian history. Countless cafes and restaurants will take you back to the present.

The most important church monument of the park is the Church of the Ascension of the Lord from 1532. The top of the tower rises to a height of 62 m. It is worth noting the rows of decorative gables above the church's galleries. Collections of woodcuts, handicrafts, tiles and icons are located in two buildings of the local museum.

A little aside, drowned in the greenery of the park stands the white Church of the Baptism of John the Baptist.

A faithful wooden replica of Tsar Alexei's castle, which is a crazy labyrinth of buildings, tombs and temples, is of great interest. Other wooden buildings in the area are also remarkable. Tsar Peter spent part of his childhood in Kolomensko. The castle is located in the southern part of the park.
