Opening Hours

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

It is very difficult or expensive to arrange anything during the holidays. tourists experience this mainly during the holiday Dashain, which extends into the main trekking season.

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

Unfortunately, Nepal is becoming more and more bureaucratic to foreign tourists. He secretly collects money for more and more allowances. In addition, there are still expanding areas where entry is only allowed with a local guide.

Entry Documents

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

Nepal is not one of the countries it is difficult to get to. Although a visa is required here, it is just a formality. Local tourist offices will help you with other permits, of course for a fee.

Visas

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

At all border crossings, it is possible to pay a visa, or in this case more aptly, rather an entry fee. More at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A visa for 15 days costs 20EUR A visa for 30 days costs 35EUR

Permits

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:
  • ** TIMS permit: ** From 2010 there is an obligation to obtain a so-called TIMS permit for individual trekking (arranged by each tourist agency in Thamel) for the Everest, Annapurna and Langtang area at a price of 20 USD and to pay the entrance fee to the national park. – ** Trekking Permit: ** Unfortunately, the listed areas, mostly more remote ones, can only be entered in an organized manner with a classic trekking permit. Its price ranges from $ 10 (eg Taplejung district) to $ 500 (eg Upper Mustang, Upper Dolpo) per week. Detailed list of price areas HERE: [http://www.taan.org.np/…-permit-fees]. – ** Trekking Peaks: ** In addition, there is an extra fee for mountaineering from about 6,000 meters above sea level to 7,000 from the so-called list of „trekking peaks“, which are essentially climbing rather than explicitly trekking. Prices mostly vary from 70USD to 250USD, depending on the season. List these mountain output prices HERE: [http://www.taan.org.np/…g-peaks-fees]. – ** Royalty Fees: ** applies to high mountains and is somewhere completely different. The Mount Everest fee is $ 25,000 for one ($ 70,000 for a 7-member group). Other 8,000 USD 10,000 (for a group of 1–7 members). 7500+ 4 000USD per group. 7000+ 3000USD and 6500+ 2000USD.

Border crossings

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

Nepal has international land connections mainly with India, with which it has many land crossings through which tourists can cross. Important transitions: In the west, Banbasa-Gada Chauki (Bhimdatta) is interesting for those traveling from Uttarakhand. Sonauli (near Lumbini) is the closest to Pokhář. It is also convenient for a trip to Varanasi from Nepal. The Raxaul-Birgunj crossing is the closest to Kathmandu. Kakarbhitta is most in the east. Connection with Darjeeling or direction to Bangladesh. The only border crossing with China or Tibet – Kodari is used mainly by tourists completing the so-called „Tibet tours“.

Religious

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

Hindu temples are generally blocked from entering Hindu temples, so you can't get inside the Pashupatinah Temple, for example.
