Cave under the view of the sunset
Not far from the town of Agalas you will find a small but quite interesting cave Damianos. Directly above it is an tavern designed to watch the sunset. A very narrow road leads to the tavern, or the starting point of the tourist route to the cave. The route itself is very short and even a small child can handle it
Secluded in the woods
After driving about one kilometer along a narrow road, you will come to a small parking lot in front of the tavern. You almost feel like you've come to someone in the backyard. Behind the massive olive trees are paddocks for hens and goats.
Taverna Cave Damianos
Before heading to the cave, climb the slope along the stylish corners of the local tavern. Several prospects await you as a bonus. However, it is lively here only in the evening, when lovers of watching the sunset come here.
View of the mountain road
The first viewpoint leads to a narrow road leading from Agalas to the Plakaki Rocks, which is a much bigger attraction than the local caves.
Sea view
The viewpoint is about 260 meters above sea level. Through the beautiful green conifers you can see all the way to the sea
Cliffs on the west side of Zakynthos
The pine slopes fall relatively freely up to the cliffs up to 150 meters high. This cliff wall occupies basically the entire west coast of the island.
Damianos Cave
After visiting the views from the tavern, we finally set out for the destination of this mini-trip. The cave is about 300 meters. However, it runs on the sunny side, so water is needed. The cave itself is actually two caves. The bottom is easily accessible to the top you have to climb.
Views of the Damianos Caves and the tavern
If you return from the cave to Agalas and from there drive to the rock formations of Plakaki, stop at the lookout on the road. You will see the tavern and beneath it like the black eye of Damian's cave
