Punta Prima is a smaller resort located in the southeastern tip of Menorca. This center is about 15 minutes from the airport. The capital Mao is only 10 km away. Despite the proximity of these factors, it is a calm and beautiful place with clear water.

Beach

The beach in Punta Prima is sandy, about 150 meters long. The water here is beautifully clear, calm and relatively shallow. Despite the fact that it is a relatively small beach, it did not happen to us that it was crowded. Punta Prima is a small resort with only one smaller resort and one or two smaller hotels. At the same time, it is not a „sloppy“ place, so most tourists will not visit here.

Why choose the local beach?

Despite the fact that it is a lightly used beach, it is under the constant supervision of lifeguards. During this year, a large amount of sand was washed away from the beach, exposing stones and a waste pipe. For that reason, a yellow flag is constantly displayed here and lifeguards are always on alert. However, the stones are only up to a distance of about 15 meters, then there is only white sand. The beach is shallow, and a few tens of meters from the beach the water is shoulder-deep. At the same time, the purity of the water here is absolutely excellent (comparable to or better than Cala Turqueta), if the sea is calm. This is one of the best beaches for snorkeling, as there is a huge number of all kinds of fish.

Shades of blue

Punta Prima has the cleanest water on the entire island. At the same time, there is the most beautiful view of the changing color of the water, which is caused by the different cover of the bottom. The light parts are covered with sand, the dark ones with very rare sea grass, which is the reason why the Menorca Sea is the cleanest and is also one of the reasons for the high level of protection of the whole island.

Lighthouse

Directly opposite the beach (and the entire resort) is the island of Illa de l'Aire with a lighthouse that has stood here since 1860. The lighthouse tower with black and white stripes is 38 m high, the lighthouse itself is located at a height of 53 m and flashes every 5 seconds . It can be seen from a distance of 33 km. It is possible to get to the lighthouse as part of a paid sunset boat trip.

Torre de Son Ganxo

Even Punta Prima has its small fortress from the 18th century. Currently, this is a specific type of experience accommodation.

A small town

The resort of Punta Prima is quiet and picturesque. There are many white houses with typical wooden gates and ceramic signs.

Center

The small „center“ here consists of four restaurants, two shops and one pharmacy. There are smaller clothing markets here a few times a week.

Park

Punta Prima also has a small park. Here you can use the free sunbeds or just lie on the lawn.
