Above Banská Bystrica
Urpín 510 m above sea level is a dominant feature of Banská Bystrica and one of the favorite walking places for locals, in summer a popular place for picnics. The easiest way to get there is by following the blue sign from the train station in the city, and the journey to the top and back takes about an hour.
Up the stairs
At the beginning, the route goes along the seprentines, which overcome the largest elevation gain and reach a nice meadow above the forest.
Chapel
At a short detour from the road there is a nice chapel.
Outbreaks
In the meadow above the forest there are several fireplaces, where you can spend a nice summer evening in a circle of friends.
Meadow
On the way we cross the meadow and enter the forest again, from where it is already about 10 to 15 minutes to the top.
Top
The top of Urpin is not very interesting, it is necessary to go to a nearby lookout, which is a few meters from the top.
The prospect
A view of Banská Bystrica and the surrounding hills, especially Kremnické vrchy, but also partially see Veľká Fatra, Staré Hory or Nízke Tatry.
