The continuation of the trip in the magical Huaytapallana mountain range begins at a glacier at an altitude of five thousand meters above sea level. For some, it's the culmination of a trip to walk around and jump through cracks. From here, the journey continues along the individual lagoons back to the Virgen de las Nieves Pass, from where you can comfortably get back to Huancaya.

Ascent to the glacier

If you want to diversify this trip even more, you can also climb the local glacier. However, count on the fact that a safe walk suddenly becomes dangerous, because the face of the glacier has a lot of deep cracks.

Road on the glacier

In order to get to a safe part of the glacier, where you can do various winter games and cross the limit of five thousand meters above sea level, you have to cross a few unpleasant cracks. In addition, no one goes on this trip with equipment to the glacier.

Fun on the glacier

After overcoming a short section of cracks, the glacier is compact and you can ride it here on an artificial bag. You just can't get too started if your life is nice.

Huaytapallana ridge

After „gossiping“ on the glacier, this basic circuit through the Huaytapallana mountains awaits you. Practically almost the whole way you will really enjoy the beautifully glaciated ridge.

Panorama of Yanaucsha and Jatuncocha lagoons

From the glacier, the path descends along a pleasant footpath with amazing views of the two main lagoons on this walk.

Descent to the Jatuncocha lagoon

The descent to the Jatuncocha lagoon, or the whole way back, is a really comfortable way. It is also marked on the maps as a path for horses. The second part of the trip is therefore significantly lighter than the first part. In the background you can also see the road descending from the Virgen de las Nieves pass to the Amazon Basin.

Panorama of Jatuncocha lagoon

The panorama of the Huaytapallana mountains, rising directly behind the Jatunococha lagoon, will take your breath away, as it has done several times before. An ideal place to take a break and enjoy the natural beauty of this part of Peru

Descent to Cochas Lagoon

The path gradually descends to the third large lagoon on this trip – Cochas. The surroundings are picturesque, although not as dramatic as before.

View from Cochas lagoon

It is about a 2-hour comfortable walk from the glacier with frequent breaks before you reach the Cochas lagoon. Even from it there are beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

View of the valley

Right behind the Cochas lagoon is a massive terrain break, where the water falls into the valley more than 200 meters below. There used to be a real icefall.

Ascent to the Virgen de las Nieves pass

From the Cochas lagoon, the last part of this beautiful sightseeing tour awaits you – the ascent back to the Virgen de las Nieves.
